I initially started using a Chromebook in supporting some school system customers, but it has allowed me greater mobility, consistent performance, and was surprisingly capable once I got using it. But those occasions are far fewer than I even expected when I started using the Chromebook. As I indicated in my initial response, I keep a windows machine around for the few tasks that I absolutely need a Windows machine for.

I am not saying the Chromebook is the right solution for everyone. I can use either the Microsoft RDP client (meh - it works) or the Chrome RDP client (better performance but limits to single session) for straight RDP sessions. I can run both Teamviewer and Splashtop for supporting users.

Since you can get really cheap ones, the best course of action is to get one and try it. It may be just me and my familiarity with it. However, I am not 100 % happy with these features. It has a terminal and you can SSH into other machines with its own system. I only have 2 GB of RAM and a low powered one. I can have 20 or 30 tabs open in the browser with no problems. The boot time is really fast about 4 second from power on and it is kept up to date. It does all of what most people need it for and I would recommend it for them. I use a Chromebook and like it very much.
